Heat for the room, or just for towels?
A towel radiator warms the room as well as your towels, but towels draped over the bars reduce the heat it gives out. If the towel radiator is the only heat source in the bathroom, check its listed output against an estimate for the room. Our BTU calculator uses its highest allowance for bathrooms, the same as for living rooms. Where a product page lists a heat output, compare it with your estimate; outputs are only directly comparable when both products state the same ΔT.
Central heating, electric or dual fuel
Central heating
Most towel radiators connect to a wet central heating system, like any other radiator.
Electric
Electric towel rails, such as Zehnder Klaro and Zehnder Subway electric models, are listed here too. See all electric radiators.
Dual fuel
Dual fuel radiators can be listed with both a central heating connection and an electric element; check each product page for what is included.
Safety
Electrical work in a bathroom is subject to rules about where things can go. Check the product page and the manufacturer's instructions, and ask a registered installer if you are unsure.
Styles and finishes
Ranges include Zehnder Ovida, Deline, Metropolitan, Balmoral and Buckingham, Myson Angara and Wallace and Squires. Finishes named in this collection include chrome, white, stainless steel, anthracite, black, brass and gold; the product page shows the options for each model.
